Situation & Enviroment

Bérchules
Municipality Andalusian located in the part center-north of the Alpujarra Granadina (province of Granada), in the Southeastern of Spain. This locality limits with the municipalities of the Jeréz del Marquesado, Lanteira, Alpujarra de la Sierra, Cádiar, Lobras, Juviles and Trevélez. The city council is formed by the nuclei of Bérchules ("district of above ") and Alcútar, separated approximately by a kilometer.

One is halfway between Granada and Almeria, to 1,319 meters on the level of the sea, being one of the highest towns of Spain. In its municipal term the Guadalfeo river is born, that ends at the Mediterranean Sea, between Salobreña and Motril (province of Granada).
